About

Bay 158 is located in the High Street, Broadstairs, Kent and stocks an interesting range of cards, gifts and homewares with a beach theme, providing top quality products at a reasonable price. New for 2010 we now offer a complete bespoke picture framing service with a new gallery in the former stock room.

In the gallery we have several local artists work on offer, original watercolours, prints through to some very contemporary photographic work, mostly with a local slant. We also offer an interesting range of 'beach life' prints and canvases. You will also always find a great selection of historical local advertising prints and black and white photo’s (framed or mounted). It’s always worth dropping by to check out the new additions.

Bay 158’s products change with the seasons, from beach themed products for the summer through to fantastic Christmas gifts, so you will always find great new ideas each time you visit, keeping the most popular items right through the year... like the range of Broadstairs mugs. Which have been posted to most parts of the world!

The concept behind the opening of Bay 158 came up during Easter 2009 over many glasses of wine... when Paul and Mel Mitchard were considering opening a shop in their hometown Broadstairs, on the sunny Kent coast. Paul had spent many years travelling all over the country working in media and now it was time to bring the commute down to a 5 minute walk and the chance of surfing whenever the weather conditions were right!

Richard and Zoe Hawkins, long time friends, who have owned the Overton Gallery (www.overtongallery.co.uk) in Hampshire for over 15 years, shared the wine over Easter and were the inspiration behind the venture, and have proved continuing great mentors.
